At Dance Generation our Ballroom and Latin programs aim to develop your ability, confidence and understanding of the dances that make up this style, so you can enjoy your type of music and time on the dance floor.
You can learn a particular dance but we believe you will be a better dancer if you learn a combination of dances to cover different types of music. The more you know the more you can dance, with variety comes a more interesting experience. These dances cover a wide range of music from classical to crooner, from blues and jazz to rock n roll, whatever your taste in music the aim is for you to be able to dance to it all. We teach using today’s hit music through to strict tempo pieces, we aim to ensure your dancing is usable. No matter what the occasion you'll be ready, whether it's a wedding, a work function or simply a night out on the town with someone special. There is no excuse to not get on the dance floor. Dance Generation's Ballroom & Latin syllabus includes the following dances: Foxtrot This is one of the easiest of all the dances to learn because of its relaxed and natural walking action. It's also one of the most versatile, fitting both today's music and hits from the past, adjustable to big and small spaces and if you ask a a non dancer up they can easily be made to feel comfortable. so whether it's a big band, a Robbie Williams or Michael Buble number, Country and Western music or even a lazy afternoon with a Jazz band you will be able to enjoy the Foxtrot. Waltz A traditional favourite with Bridal Couples the Waltz continues to be a must for all good dancers. Its grace and poise captures the romance and elegance of a bygone era although modern Waltz music continues to be written even today. A Waltz is also defined by its unique timing of a 3/4 beat. Tango Tango is often referred to as "The Dancers Dance" and is a favourite because of its dramatic style and distinctive movements bringing out the attitude in the music. The Tango is excellent for developing good leading/ following skills and technique. It has been suggested that Tango makes people feel more relaxed, sexier and gives the male role strength in character. Rumba The sensual body rhythms and seductive movements of the Rumba give this dance the title of the dance of love. Easy to learn and fun to dance the Rumba suits most modern ballads and love songs and can be danced on the smallest of dance floors. Rumba is today’s most common style for the first wedding dance and the music it suits makes it the most versatile when out dancing. Cha Cha This is one of the faster dances taught in our Ballroom & Latin syllabus. Like the Rumba the Cha Cha is very sexy but in a flirty way making it a lot of fun. The Cha Cha’s tempo gets the legs moving and heart pumping It's also a great way to improve your fitness. Swing Dance Generation teaches two types of Swing in its Ballroom & Latin syllabus. Beginners learn the "Single Swing" which is danced to the faster Rock n Roll music. It's easy to learn and very popular. Once you've been dancing for a while you will also learn the "Triple Swing" which is danced to a slightly slower tempo and is very popular for dancing to the music of today. |
